Jim & Michaelle Brass have owned their own butchering & catering businesses since 1973.
They started out in a little store called The Meat Shoppe, in Maple, Ontario. Within four years, with a partner, they had opened another shop in Unionville. By 1985, they had a third store in Aurora.
Longing for the quieter country life, Jim & Michaelle sold their shares in the business in 1988.
After a well needed rest for the family, Country Meat Cuts & Lucy’s Kitchen was opened at the present location of 7667 Simcoe County Road 56 in Utopia, in November of 1989.
By 1996, the business had grown to a point where Tim Curtis joined Country Meat Cuts & Lucy’s Kitchen as a partner. Tim, who was manager of the Angus & Alliston IGA meat department, brought with him to Country Meat Cuts & Lucy’s Kitchen, 29 years of butchering experience.
Before long the three were building on to the existing shop in order to accommodate the rising customer sales. At the end of 2009, Tim took deserved retirement. Congratulations Tim!
In came the new general manager, Larry Dawson. Larry is no stranger to the meat industry, having spent the last 30 years as a cutter, manager and store owner. Prior to starting in the meat business, Larry spent 10 years as a restaurant manager in both Ontario and Western Canada. His 30 years in the meat industry include time with Loblaws, Sobeys and 12 years with Brennan's Meats in Barrie, Ontario. We look forward to many successful years with Larry.
Today, Country Meat Cuts & Lucy’s Kitchen is a well known & respected business. A customer can shop for fresh cuts of meat, homemade cold cuts, an excellent steak, a homemade lasagna, dog & cat food, or one of their famous air chilled, grain fed turkeys.
